Nicolas Bigan is a qualified French primary school teacher who has been part of the Petit Lotus Bleu at Sunrise since September 2008.
After several years of experience in France, he chose to move to Shanghai to join a small, family-oriented school project, combining high academic standards with an international environment. He immediately felt a strong connection with the school's spirit and community, a connection that has grown stronger over the years.
He first joined as a teacher, working across different age groups, before taking on leadership responsibilities in 2011. Since then, he has been leading the French section with a strong focus on continuity, team stability, and the well-being of both children and staff. His long-term commitment has also helped build a stable and positive collaboration between the French section and the Chinese school.
Over the years, Nicolas has remained deeply committed to maintaining a warm, supportive and demanding educational environment, where children can grow with confidence and curiosity. He strongly believes that a school should feel like a community, where children, families and teachers grow together.
In recognition of his dedication to education and his contribution to the French community abroad, he was awarded the Palmes Académiques, a French national honour granted by the French Ministry of Education.
